About the Project

The goal of this project is to restore and repaint the walls of the subway connecting Central Park to Bell Meadow. There will be new murals with fresh artwork, painted by artists working with the local community.

 

The content of the new artwork will reflect values of freedom, nature, and community spirit. Creating an improved & welcoming environment for everyone who passes through the subway.

 

The project has been inspired by a group of students from local secondary school, Boswells who have been working with Chelmsford City Council and the charity, Make Space for Girls to come up with ideas to enhance local green spaces, making them feel more inclusive and welcoming to teenage girls and gender diverse young people.

 

The group have been instrumental in creating the concept and we are hoping to work with the local community to bring the piece to life!

 

Community Collaboration

Students & members of partnering groups are invited to contribute ideas and design work for the new murals. 
 

Brave Arts will be inviting contributing groups for art workshops on the Thurs Nov 7th to  engage the community with the actual painting process.​​​
